Engagement sessions this time of year are a bit of a toss up in terms of the weather. And on this particular day Ashley, Zack and I had to decide if we should push on with the cloudy forecast or go for it. I’m so glad they decided to take the chance. We spent that magic hour at some of my favorite little spots in Hermann Park and captured the essence of their personalities. Ashley has this sweet and quiet quality about her, so loving and gentle. Zack is her perfect compliment with a combined sense of quiet fortitude and lighthearted sense of humor. I can see why these two embrace the way they do. When I look at couples through my lens I feel a gift being bestowed upon me. And I’m so grateful they opened up to me that day. I’m looking forward to seeing them again on wedding day. Here are a few of my favorite photographs from our engagement session:
On a side note, this magnificent oak tree fell to its end and rejoined the Earth just one week after our session. I felt it draw me in that day almost as if the Universe was asking for a record to be made. And isn’t that the purpose of it all: to find the beauty, the grace, marvel at life, share in that miracle, and make records of what we are so fortunate to experience. I’m so happy I got to capture it’s beauty in a photograph with such a sweet couple.
Ashley & Zack, thank you for working with me to create these images. My wish is that these will always spark the memory of what you feel for each other, and that the roots of that love grow deep to anchor your journey through life together in an unbreakable bond.
